Lima, the capital of Peru, is one of the most modernized regions in the country. Located along the central Pacific coast, the city forms a modern oasis, bordered by coastal desert and situated just west of the Andes Mountains.
“Since childhood, I traveled regularly to Lima, and stay with my uncle, Pepe, in the Miraflores district, just blocks from the Malecón de Miraflores—a scenic esplanade overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Beyond my time in Miraflores, I often explored other districts including La Victoria, Barranco, Barrios Altos, and the Historic Centre of Lima. When I was younger I always visited all of my parents friends and extended family scattered throughout Lima. However, I had the pleasure of making my own friends this time and they showed me parts of the city I never got the chance to explore before. Together, all of these photographs capture fragments of each district, revealing glimpses of everyday life among Peruvians and visitors alike.”
