Lima, the capital of Perú, is one of the most modernized regions in the country. Located along the central Pacific coast, the city forms a modern oasis, bordered by coastal desert and situated just west of the Andes Mountains.
“Since a kid, I traveled regularly to Lima to stay with my uncle Pepe, in the Miraflores district, just blocks from the Malecón de Miraflores—an esplanade overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Beyond my time in Miraflores, I often explored other districts including La Victoria, Barranco, Barrios Altos, and the Historic Centre of Lima. When I was younger I was always visiting friends and family but on this trip, I had the pleasure of making my own friends for the first time. They showed me parts of the city I never got the chance to explore before. Together, all of these photographs capture fragments of each district, revealing glimpses of everyday life among Peruvians and visitors alike.”
